In case you’ve been living under a rock, North Korea actually is hip enough to be producing €150 brand jeans!
In the summer of 2007, Jacob Åström, Tor Rauden Källstigen and Jakob Ohlsson started Noko Jeans with the perfect business plan.
Which country better to produce such cult jeans, if not North Korea?
And so after countless meetings, and some Swedish vodka, the biggest mining company in North Korea agreed to produce 1100 pairs of Noko’s two styles of jeans.
Their first collection aptly named Maneuvers In the Dark, is straight-cut, dark-washed, and unadorned.
The limited run will be available starting December 4th 2009 on their website Noko Jeans.
Hmm, I just not too sure about plonking down €150 for a company, that seemingly banks heavily on the sole fact that the jeans are ‘Made in North Korea’.
I feel sorry for Noko cos the press photos make the jeans look horribly undesirable and awkward.
It’ll just be a nice conversation starter in the closet.
What do you think?

sentiments alike. they look hideous!
Hey there I discovered this site by sheer luck, I was surfing around Yahoo for New Fashion Designers when I found your blog, I must say your website is very interesting I truely think the theme, its amazing!. I’m in a bit of a rush right now to fully absorb your blog but I have bookmarked it and also subscribed for your RSS feeds. I will be back in a day or two. Thanks for a great site.
I agree, who will buy those jeans for 300euros?
certainly not me, thats for sure.
If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
