I guess you have seen the Blood Donation Drive calling out to people who take public transport.
I am referring to the Bus Stop Ads by Clear Channel.
Recently, they showed this guy whom I felt was real good-looking donating blood and smiling happily; but wondered how the message really got across.
Would you be enticed to go donate blood just because that guy was smiling? I don’t think you would be able to see him even if you went to donate blood. Young people who are afraid to donate are also not dumb to donate just cos a person was smiling in an ad.
No offence to him but i would like to point out to the advertisers that a stronger message has to be made.
Smiling to convey that Blood Donation doesn’t hurt is so passé.
The message should be that blood simply isn’t enough to accomodate everyone who needs them. (Although i have to admit it was nice looking at something that was good-looking while waiting for the damn Bus 183 to arrive before i hop on to school. At least it wasn’t someone ugly for once.)
What I felt was a great advert would have to be this.
I thought this was superb. I loved it. Totally got the message across.
P.S. i’ll try to get a hold of the picture of the bus ad. The one which was in my bus stop got replaced with something else. Anyone who got the picture…send it! LOL.
